What We're Up To

We always have a number of projects, ideas or lines of enquiry on the simmer. Below are a number which have been through various periods of research and development. They are all at different points in their processes on their way to a full production.

Jackie The Baboon

Jackie the Baboon tells the true story of a baboon who is found by a soldier and taken to war as a mascot by the 3rd South African Infantry. Jackie is given a uniform and serves in the trenches of the Great War for three years, including the infamous Battle of Devil’s Wood. This visually rich show features innovative puppetry, ensemble acting and an original score to tell the life story of this incredible baboon and take you through the war from a unique point of view.

We are currently in a further period of research and development on the way to an industry launch in October 2018 with a view to tour the show in 2019.

This show has been developed with support from Arts Council England, University of Surrey and Orange Tree Theatre.

Hollow

A new show developed at the egg at Theatre Royal Bath as part of their Incubator programme. A boy discovers an injured owl. A man discovers the boy and the owl. A dark, challenging play about outsiders, communication, relationships and nature.

This show received an industry sharing in October 2017 at the egg and will be undergoing further R&D process in 2018.

Developed with the egg at Theatre Royal Bath with Brunskill and Grimes as Leverhulme Scholars 2016/17.

This Moose Belongs To Me

A boy thinks he owns a moose. This may or may not be true. A beautiful modern classic by Oliver Jeffers.

We have spent two periods of research and development, working on the adaptation, creating prototype puppets and conceiving an original score.

Currently planned for production in 2020 with potential subsequent tour.
